Kim Kardashian sued for claiming ‘low-grade’ knockoff furnishings was made by artist Donald Judd

Actuality TV star Kim Kardashian claimed on video that she had bought “Donald Judd tables” that had been in actual fact “low cost knockoffs,” main customers to assume that the supply of the furnishings was the nonprofit basis devoted to the artist’s legacy, in line with a lawsuit filed this week.
The Judd Basis sued Kardashian and Clements Design, which allegedly made the knockoff furnishings that appeared in a 2022 Kardashian video made on the places of work of Kardashian’s skincare firm.
“When you guys are furnishings folks—as a result of I’ve actually gotten into furnishings these days—these Donald Judd tables are actually superb and completely mix in with the seats,” Kardashian stated within the video posted to YouTube.
Reuters, the New York Times, TMZ and USA Today have protection of the March 27 lawsuit, filed within the U.S. District Courtroom for the Central District of California.
The swimsuit accuses Kardashian of false endorsement and Clements Design of trademark and copyright infringement, false promoting and unfair competitors.
“These poor-quality imitations masquerading as genuine Donald Judd tables and chairs hurt the Donald Judd model, as customers will see a budget knockoffs, be advised they’re genuine Donald Judd furnishings, and erroneously affiliate these low-grade items with the Donald Judd model,” the swimsuit says.
Judd died in 1994.
Clements Design stated in a press release revealed by the New York Instances and TMZ its furnishings had “apparent key variations” from Donald Judd designs, and the Judd Basis had been unwilling to decide on affordable phrases.
A lawyer for Clements Design, John Ulin, advised the muse that the wooden sort and proportions of its desk had been completely different than the Donald Judd tables, in line with the New York Instances.
“They’re completely different tables with completely different designs,” Ulin stated.
